I make art in a variety of media - from lifelike oil and watercolor portraits and landscapes to mixed media illustration and sculpture incorporating natural and vintage fibers. The common thread is a sense of joy in the beauty of the natural world and human connection.
I'm inspired by Rennaissance art, Pre-Raphaelite painting, classic children’s book art, and frequent walks in the woods. My studies have taken me all over the country and world, including Carleton College in Minnesota, where I earned my B.A in Studio Art and Art Education, study abroad in Cortona Italy, a post-bacc in Painting in Florence Italy, and Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado where I studied Art Therapy.
Commissioning a portrait: I love working with customers to create a one of a kind heirloom. I've painted portraits in watercolor and oils for over 15 years for private clients and public institutions. Works range from affordable, easy to display miniatures to full length showpieces. Whenever possible, I like to meet the subject to take photographs and sketches from life, but I frequently work from just photographs, as well. Contact me for current prices and procedures.
